Throughout the last few decades, globalization has brought many modifications to human lives.

Almost everybody thought that globalization was about the economic benefit at first and later had also affected many others categories such as education, technology, and environment. However, it is obvious that education, a crucial business for all societies, is affected first. As the cornerstone and crucial motivator of socioeconomics and human development, education is the essence of the change that is impacting the world in some fields, for instance, technology, climatology, economics, and culture. Therefore, I would like to ascertain and discuss the effects of globalization especially on education in developing countries.

              There are numerous quantity of documents on the definition of globalization. However, the definition, which serves the purpose of most people, is that offered by Oxford English Dictionary: “Globalization is “the act of globalizing”; from the noun “global” meaning “pertaining to or involving the whole world”, “worldwide”; “universal”.” (2006). However, World Health Organization defines globalization more holistic than many of the other definitions. It admits the importance of economic, social, technological, and political processes of globalization: “Globalization, is generally understood to include two interrelated elements: the opening of borders to increasingly fast flows of goods, services, finance, people and ideas across international borders; and the changes in institutional and policy regimes at the international and national levels that facilitate or promote such flows.”                           Globalization has dual effects – it has positive and negative impacts on the educational development of newly industrializing countries.               In developing countries, globalization is creating occasions to share knowledge, practical experience, and give an impulse to develop communities, and societies.

With the development of technology, globalization improves the ability of students to approach and apply knowledge, to think independently to exercise appropriate judgment and to cooperate with others to make sense of new circumstances. “The internet offers a new approach to education called distances learning. Students can access a wide variety of courses over the Internet.

” (Louise M Simmers, Karen Simmers-Nartker, Sharon Simmers-Kobelak). Technologies like the internet make sure that one can now study just from his or her home. Additionally, Global education connects teaching methods around the world to enhance the international development, as well as produce a friendly learning environment. According to Srikant Misra, “The emphasis of education in globalized societies is to create a culture that is learning friendly. Most societies must set up cooperative learning environment wherein all resources in the community are made learning-friendly”. These didactic methods approach schools from the primary to the university levels, provide learning experiences that prepare students for multinational leadership roles. So that students can use the global exchange of knowledge, experiences, skills, and intellectual assets to develop countries, communities, and individuals. Another impact of globalization on education is the multicultural awareness of people from the young age, namely reducing racial prejudice and racism.

This does not only provides children with the ability to be more familiar with different traditions and cultures from different societies but also create equal and harmonious relationship among races, and acknowledge a diversity of culture between countries and regions.              However, the effects of globalization are not all positive. The large differences in opportunities of education among countries are one of the basic reasons of global inequality.

Srinivasan Chinnammai, the professor of University of Madras, India, proclaims that: “While developed countries have been acquiring and using technology for education, developing countries are being left behind”. This may widen the gap between the education progress in a developed country with a well-equipped information technology facilities and education progress in a developing country, where only has poor information technology facilities. The main problem is the low budget in developing countries.

That is the governments do not have enough money to invest in educational equipment. Another drawback of globalization is an overdependence on technology. For instance, many people are using search engines like Google for information. Consequently, they become too rely on those engines. Many young people are lack of enthusiasm and creativity since they think that it is uncomfortable and difficult to do things on their own.                 Vietnamese deputy minister of education and training Nguyen Vinh Hien mention: “We live in a world where globalization and international integration are becoming a popular trend.

Besides opportunities and prospects, we face many problems and challenges.” This context is changing the way we organize, how we teach, and managing the education system in schools. Leaders and managers of mission education have to identify the right issues and find solutions to constantly innovate in order to meet the demands of the times. It is obvious that one of the basic requirements is to train life skills and working skills in the 21st century for students, renovate teaching methods, learning and application of information technology in management and teaching. Not only educating the young generation but also raising the awareness of global citizens, not only cultivating traditional culture but also treating diversification in a multicultural world.              In conclusion, the effects of globalization could be seen everywhere, from economic to political. However, globalization is a fundamental process that considerably influences many parts of education. Although globalization has many positive impacts on education, especially in developing countries, there are some drawbacks that cannot avoid.

Therefore, all new teaching methods should be studied and verify carefully before being applied in practice.
