Therefore, recently companies have been forced to introduce structural transformations to accommodate technological advancements that influence the society both negatively and positively. Technology plays an essential role in transforming workplace settings. Through its application, modern corporations have become more creative and innovative than they were in the past. Thus, this salutary effect of technology results in higher employment rates. Technological progress predetermines job creation by providing employment opportunities in the ICT industry as well as by allowing workers to access new forms of work in a flexible design (Ajami & Arab-Chadegani, 2014). The technology industry has led to new employment possibilities that did not exist previously. The mobile phone industry, for example, has induced the development of mobile application design as a separate profession. Additionally, technology contributes to numerous job offers in the labor market. Online platforms, for instance, connect increasingly large numbers of employees to employers by means of the Internet and mobile-based tools. Through such platforms, workers from across the globe get access to employment opportunities hence making labor markets transparent and inclusive. Moreover, the presence of technology in the world has facilitated information access revolutionizing many industries and consequently leading to higher incomes among laborers. In turn, this rise of revenue boosts the demand for professional services meanwhile creating new employment possibilities. Therefore, technology has positively contributed to the greater number of job offers by promoting employability as well as changing the way in which workers access employment opportunities.Though technology has beneficial impacts, it poses some challenges not only to employees but also to employers. Some of the adverse effects of technology include the rising levels of unemployment. The major problem brought by technology is caused by the issue of automation. Nowadays companies can perform tasks with a click of a button. The presence of automated processes in the workplace settings is gradually reducing the need for workers thus increasing the unemployment rates. The modern US manufacturing industries employ fewer people as compared to the past (Rotman, 2013). At the same time, these lines of business have adopted more sophisticated technology than the one used before. Currently, commercial enterprises routinely utilize automated machines that autonomously weld and paint car parts (Rotman, 2013). Moreover, many firms consider investing in technology cheaper than hiring employees. The reason for this is that the introduction of technology eliminates the need to pay salaries to staff members every month. Additionally, unlike people, robots and other technology-based advancements are more efficient. Therefore, investing in technology allows ventures to have more work done since technological developments make the performance of tasks faster and more effective. Notably, technology ensures the operation without major errors that are typical for human beings. Comparing technology to its predecessors, one may deduce that it offers greater advantages to employers but is disadvantageous to employees. Consequently, technology plays a prominent role in the increase of unemployment levels.Furthermore, technology is changing the way businesses operate. New aggressive and fierce competition is emerging because of technology. In the past five years, organizations have made various modifications in their performance, which involve flattering the hierarchy of corporations. Due to technology, the geographical proximity of employees does not matter, as technology facilitates the supervision of the staff despite their locations. Computer-mediated communication between the superiors and their subordinates reduces the layers of management (Celik & Kalay, 2015). Additionally, technology has improved the communication structures within organizations. It removes spatial barriers facilitating communication between employees of different ranks. Moreover, with technology changing performance of companies and with competition becoming increasingly tough, firms have been forced to adjust their models of operation to adapt to the changes caused by technological developments and innovation (Celik & Kalay, 2015). Thus, such changes include focusing more on the clients in an attempt to remain relevant in the marketplace. The structural transformations in organizations affect the society both positively and negatively. The favorable impacts embrace easier access to services while improving the quality of products available to customers. However, structural changes make some positions irrelevant hence increasing unemployment rates.
