Smart operations is about developing a technology by which the Internet of things can be able to analyse the big data in real time work in any manufacture sector, leads to develop a new approach for improving the operation excellence and this new approach for creating such excellence in operation task is smart operation 1. Manufacturers like to transform the process into a smart manufacturing which is a term about developing a movement in manufacturing operations by having advance informations through big data analytics, this leads to improve the flexibility in physical processes involved, but this also leads to increase the training related to workforce and use of new technologies through internet of things(IOT) and big data 2,3,4. In manufacturing and service sector, the Big Data Analytics is about using a centralised data model for combining a structured data like inventory and financial transactions in a business system.
This is done with a structured operational system data like process parameters, alarms and quality events, with an internal and external unstructured data like supplier, customer, internet and data through machines to uncover new insights by implementing an advanced analytical tools. Big data is present and always had been into manufacturing sector. Data have been getting collected through historians, media and social media from decades. An untapped market is always present for Big Data in manufacturing as well as in service sector.
In Big Data, lots of data in various form exists, but very few of them is being used for any kind of analysis today. Such few datas are always useful in manufacturing and service sector to decide or approach any kind of new marketing terms. In manufacturing of any products there are assets or Manufacturing Execution Systems(MES) which are smartly connected to produce lots of data in petabytes. Millions of measurement in the form of process variables are getting collected using MES from the respective plants.
It is important to know that the running reports getting collected because of large data sets, will not qualify as Big Data analytics in manufacturing and service sector. Hence, the Big Data Analytics is different in terms of definition from the traditional approach which manufacturers and their vendors take to deal with the data from manufacturing of any products or service given to an organisation
