President Barack Obama is from Honolulu Hawaii and was born there in 1961, which is two years after it became an official state in the United States of America. He lived in both Washington and Indonesia when he was a child as well. In 1983 he graduated from Columbia University in New-York City and became a community organizer in Chicago. Obama also enrolled in Harvard Law School and was the first black president of the Harvard Law Review. He then graduated and taught law at the University of Chicago. Obama represented the 13th district for three terms in the Senate in Illinois for seven years and then ran for U.S Senate. He was elected as a Senator in 2004 and in 2009 he was inaugurated and became the president of the united states.
During his first year of presidency, there was the great recession and he created the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to help the people badly affected by it. Hurricane Sandy happened in 2012 during his second campaign for president against Mitt Romney. The shooting at Sandy hook happened after his re-election and it was a horribly tragic time for a lot of people. In 2013 the Boston Marathon occurred killing three people and wounding 260 more.
In 2017 Hurricane Harvey, Irma, and Maria, the Charlottesville Rally, the NFL player protest, the California fires, the Vegas shooting, and the Orlando shooting all happened. This all happened during his presidency and in 2017 our nation was the most divided it has been in a very, very long time. In 2010 Haiti was hit by a large hurricane that destroyed large parts of the island and created mass devastation. Obama helped by sending them money for repairs and for food. In 2011 Osama Bin Laden was killed by U.S Special Forces by order of the president.
In 2013 Nelson Mandela passed away and at his funeral, Obama gave a heartwarming speech about Mandela’s accomplishments and his amazing personality. In 2014 the Ebola crisis got worse and spread to more than one country. About ten months ago the Obama administration set out to do something about the crisis and fight the disease. In 2017 North Korea tested ballistic missiles and Obama spoke to the public calmly and cooly to alleviate peoples stress. As other things happened around him in other countries he payed attention and helped them as he could and if he couldn’t he would be there to talk about them and understand them.
Obama left the legacy of being the first and only black president of the united states. He also pulled the united states out of the second biggest job and money crisis the U.S has seen. Barack left the Government in the highest debt it has ever had in the history of the united states as well. He also helped the nation pulled back its troop commitments and managed not to create more wars. Obama had the highest amount of partisanship in the government that there has ever been. Another thing that Obama did that had an impact was having more Democrats in the house for as long as he did.
The man also was a legend in that the public loved him and he was a friend and inspiration to all, not just his followers. It can definitely be said that Obama will go down in history and there is much for him to be remembered for. In my opinion, he was a great president and what I classify as a good president is a good man. Barack Obama is a good man, someone who cares about the people and hopes to make a difference. He did all he could do in his presidency, with the opposition of the Republican party he did an extremely good job.
Partisanship was the highest it has ever been during his presidency and the Republicans made it almost impossible for him to do anything. He helped people after the recession against the republican parties wishes. He created the hate crimes prevention act that helped hate crimes to be investigated and prosecuted easily. He helped Haiti after the hurricane in 2010 by sending them money. he created the Affordable Care Act which gave many many people better quality insurance that was more affordable and easy to access. So, yes I do think that he was a good president and an even better person.
