Velocity in this context refers to the increasing speed at whichthis data is created, and the increasing speed at which the data canbe processed, stored and analyzed. One way of looking at big data isthat it represents the large and rapidly growing volume ofinformation that is mostly untapped by existing analyticalapplications and data warehousing systems. 90% of data generated isunstructured coming in all shapes and forms from geo- spatial datato tweets which can be analyzed for content and sentiment, to visualdata such as photos and videos. Data that is being produced isusually structured, semi-structured or structure less.
