Jesus Christ was born of a virgin woman named Mary, in a town called Bethelem, also known as the city of David. He was a fisherman, a carpenter and a teacher of the Gospel. Jesus Christ was God’s only begotten son, sent to the earth to cleanse mankind of their sins, and to give people their only way to God, through Him.
There are not many accounts of Jesus as a child. Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist on the Jordan River. Jesus then went into the desert to pray and reflect on what he must do to save mankind from their evil ways. When He came back from the desert, He began preaching to crowds large and small, with frightening and hopeful declarations of what He was sent to the earth to accomplish.Jesus’ mission was to save the lost and the sinners of the world, by offering salvation to God through Him, the son of God, and everlasting life in heaven. Jesus preached that every sinner could be right with God if they repented and asked forgiveness for their sins. Jesus traveled throughout the region, ministering all who would listen and perform miracles on the sick, disabled and diseased.
Jesus’ enemies, priests who He claimed were robbing people in the name of God, captured him in Jerusalem and held an illegal trial claiming Jesus to be a blasphemer, and as such deserved death. The Roman governor, Pilate, afraid that Jesus would cause an uprising against Imperial Rome, unjustly ordered the crucifixion of Jesus. Jesus was beaten, mocked as a false king and then killed and buried in a cave-like tomb.On a day now celebrated as Easter Sunday, Jesus rose from the dead and, on some accounts, revealed Himself to his followers and disciples.
Many people rejected the claim that Jesus resurrected, even though his tomb was found empty when investigated. Forty days after his resurrection, he ascended into the Heavens to be with God.Jesus Christ, born of a mortal mother and an immortal Father, was sent to the earth to save mankind from themselves. Jesus’ mission was to reveal God to humanity so that we could learn to live righteously. Jesus was a perfect man and did not die for his own sins, but for our sins so that we may have everlasting life.
As Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
