American Idol was created based on the British show named Pop Idol, which was in turn inspired by Popstars, a show TV producer Nigel Lythgoe saw in Australia and brought over to Britain. The idea of employing a panel of judges to select good singers in audition was the same as Popstars. Simon Fuller then created the show Pop Idol.

The show was aired in 2001 in Britain with Nigel Lythgoe as the producer and Simon Cowell as one of the judges. It was a really big success with the viewing from so many people.After the poor response from U. S. TV networks when Simon Fuller and Simon Cowell attempted to sell the Pop Idol, Rupert Murdoch, the head of Fox’s parent company bought the show. Since then, the show was renamed American Idol. American Idol was debuted in 2002 and it soon became one of the hit shows in U.

S. that year. It was then presented by Ryan Secreast, and the judges are Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, Kara Dioguardi and Ellen DeGeneres until today.American Idol have experienced 9 seasons. It had become the biggest show on U. S.

Besides it’s popularity, American Idol is also responsible for introducing some of today’s top music icons and continues to increase that number with each pasing season.
