Teleconferencing: When using this technology, one needs to make sure that they are dealing with more than two team members in a virtual team. This technology is best for discussing the issues that each and every team member has and talking about the documents that were shared in the past sessions.
The advantages of this technology are: There are clear and concise outcomes, every team member at a remote location are being heard by the management on the other side and can also hear what they say, the interaction of the team members stay on track and all the team members are involved in the conference. Videoconferencing: This technology is used when the team members are unable to meet in person or when you are initially introducing to a team at a remote location or conducting interviews and meetings.
The advantages of this technology are similar to teleconferencing. However, there is one more advantage with this technology, that is, the team members can see and hear the other team member at the remote location. Web Meeting: This technology can be used when you want to spread graphical content to your team members on-site or virtual. You can also transmit live video, using streaming, to your team members. The advantage of this technology is, it is cost-effective. However, there are few con’s for this technology.
They are: The transmission of data depends on the kind of browser we use, the internet speed, the types of computers that the remote team members use, the distractions that the remote team members have that demand the content delivery. To choose the best technology for the situation, you need to consider the following constraints: 1. Number of team members involved in the remote location 2. The kind of information being shared 3. Cost and time and, 4. Accessibility of the technology to use.
The different technologies provide many ways to schedule a meeting within a Virtual workplace. Choosing the best technology for a particular situation helps in saving the time, broaden the scope of transmitted information, increase the team members in the communication loop and clearly communicate the information
