Forrest Gump “Life is like a box of chocolates… You never know what you’re going to get” says the main character Forrest in the beginning of the movie. Forrest Gump is the story of a man who overcomes numerous obstacles throughout different stages of his life and always seems to see the brighter side of things in the process. Through the movie’s entirety, outstanding performances from various award winning actors give this film’s involved and interesting plot a sense of realism that is far superior to that of other dramatic movies.
Forrest Gump is about a simple man’s journey through complicated times; he has an IQ of 75 at the movie’s start and stays pretty much on that level all the way through. His trove of facts increases, but his basic methodology of handling the world never changes. As a boy, with braces on his legs, he peers at life and expects little more than to be heard and acknowledged, and the first person aside from his doting mother to do that with him is his girlfriend. Aeon J.
Skoble is saying that it is okay to be unintelligent because if you pursue your dream, it will all work out for the better; though you may have a low IQ, but you can still go on to become legends, without really trying. Forrest Gump is one of these people that make one think about the meaning of life. Which in real life, most people must earn their achievements by doing so they will become successful in life. Even know Forrest Gump doesn’t have advanced knowledge, but he has emotional intelligence.
He doesn’t get angry or sad very easily and he can control himself when he has to. He motivates himself to do many things like running, playing football, or joining Vietnam war, so I think that he have a high emotional intelligence in most situations. I think emotional intelligence is not important then intelligence. The more emotional intelligence you have, I think the better person that you are, not more intelligent. Someone with a bad emotional intelligence you wouldn’t want to be around all of the time because they could be mean or depressed all the time.
If someone had good emotional intelligences the person can control their emotions better in different situations. Emotional intelligence is just a small part of what makes a person intelligent and more important to their personality; because of that Forrest never lost faith in himself, and in God. He continued believing in himself, caring for the people he loves, and having faith that God will one day will make him successful. The point of the story is that anyone can succeed in America.
In other countries, success comes through hard work, determination, and personal sacrifice and Success comes from advance knowledge. America is the land of opportunity. Anyone in America can grow up to be President, or be a US Congressman or a US senator. All it takes is a little faith. This means that all kind of intelligence are recognized and rewarded. The movie is telling us anybody can become successful including people who have a low IQ but the fact is in real life, people need to have education to be successful.
True love was the driving force behind Forrest’s success; in all of his accomplishments, he wanted to make his mother proud but most of all, he struggle to prove to Jenny that he wasn’t stupid. He wants her to be with him so he can protect her from the world. He realizes that he goes through life being helpful, kind and honest is because that he wanted to see the world in different angle. He doesn’t let himself down; he believes that makes his own destiny. Forrest says “My name’s Forrest Gump.
People call me Forrest Gump” that shows Forrest doesn’t have any intelligence; he live thought his life without any conscience. In conclusion, Forrest Gump has plenty of Talent, he has wisdom but not the intelligence to pursue his happiness, Gump is a fantastic Ping Pong player that’s a talent not a skill, his ability carried him where he wanted to go; he has emotional intelligence that will help him thought his life. I realize that Forrest Gump is not a movie showing how it is okay to be unintelligent; it shows that even though you may have a low IQ, but you can still become the person you want to be.
