Due to my interest inhealthcare, I chose Biomedical Engineering as my major in college andmaintained a cumulative score of 67% throughout my Bachelor’s Program.
Establishingcollaborations with the faculty and peers helped me considerably in refining mydisposition for reasoning, logic, and scientific curiosity, which furtherreaffirmed my pursuit of the medical field. With additional training, I envisionmyself in acquiring a Ph.D. and being a part of a passionate and innovativeresearch and development team that works towards catering to the requirements aswell as tackling any challenges of the brave new world. Ever since electronicsand medicine forged an alliance, the healthcare industry has accelerated inperforming tremendous accomplishments over the years. Inventions such as bionicarms, prosthetic eyes and CT scanners have greatly influenced my motivationtowards this field of study. Ever since I discovered my passion in biomedicalengineering, I have wanted to extend my skills towards helping physicallychallenged or differently abled people by creating assistance devices for them.It is for this reason that my final project in the last year of college wasbased on developing a device that would aid colorblind individuals inrecognizing color.
In an effort to getacquainted with this field of work, I completed an internship at CARE Hospitalsin India where I learned extensively about various equipment used in hospitals thatare used to enable physically challenged people. I grabbed every learningopportunity I was presented with to pick up some invaluable skills such asoverhauling while enhancing my personality traits such as creativity andpersistence. Over the years, I have consistently contributed in variousleadership roles whether it was as a chief coordinator for Annual College Fest,an organizer for a National Level Technical Symposium called Promethean, or as anexecutive member of an innovative student club called Club Inquisitive. Workingin these positions made me appreciate the value of communication, teamwork, planning, organizing, implementing, decision-making, and problem solving. With the knowledgeobtained through my undergraduate studies, I feel that I have taken my initialfew steps of a thousand mile journey. I wish to pursue the graduate degree to continuallysatisfy my intellectual curiosity and to lay the groundwork for my career inthis exhilarating field.
I am enthusiastic about learning advanced skills, concepts and gain in-depth knowledge that will provide me with the opportunityto explore the depths and marvels of engineering. University of Ottawa hasalways been at the pinnacle of innovation and does phenomenal quality ofresearch and therefore is my first choice of University where I would like to pursuemy Master’s Program in Biomedical Engineering. I am fully prepared to undertakenew opportunities and exciting challenges ahead as I feel that I have a firmgrasp on the basic concepts of Biomedical Engineering.
In addition, I amconfident that my internship, projects and other learning experiences haveseasoned me with a comprehensive sense of the scientific research which willallow me to make positive contributions to my classes and the overall program. It is with great anticipation that I hope the admission committee will acceptmy application.
