2017 comes to a close in a few days, the Trump administration has released the
final 2017 Alien Incarceration report that shows that more than one in five
inmates in U.S. federal prisons are immigrants,
the Daily Signal and the Trump administration reported.

Alien Incarceration report also found that ninety-four percent of those
incarcerated immigrants were in the U.S. illegally. The report
was issued in an attempt to measure the progress after President Trump issued
the crackdown on illegal immigration by
executive order, “Executive Order 13768” back in January.

of the report

year-end total of illegal immigration amounted to 58,766
illegal immigrants who were in Department of Justice custody,
which also included 39,455 immigrants among U.S. citizens, in Federal Bureau of
Prisons custody, and 19,311 in United States Marshals Service custody.

in that were 37,557 people who had been confirmed by U.S. Immigration and
Customs Enforcement (ICE) to be aliens, “non-citizens and non-nationals”, while
21,209 of those foreign-born people were still under investigation by Customs
Enforcement to determine their alien status. Of those 37,557 confirmed
illegals, 35,334 of them or 94 percent were unlawfully present and those
figures include a 92 percent unlawful rate among 24,476 confirmed aliens in
Federal Bureau of Prisons custody and a 97% unlawful rate among 13,081
confirmed aliens in United States Marshals Service custody.

report did not include incarceration of illegals in state prisons and local
jails due to the fact that such data isn’t sent to the U.S. Department of Homeland
Security (DHS) or the Department of Justice (DOJ). As a
result, the total numbers of illegal immigrants and
foreign-born people may actually be higher because both state and local jail
facilities account for about 90 percent of the total U.S. incarcerated

the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice stated
that they are working to develop a dependable and consistent method for
estimating the status of state and local incarcerated illegal immigration populations
across the U.S. in upcoming reports, hopefully in 2018.

U.S. Immigration and
Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Department of Justice immigration status
determinations are based on a further investigation by ICE to determine and
confirm, the illegal status of the said charges by the use of an establish
standard of potential removability of the person, based on “in proceedings” if
they are legal, then those who are lawfully present in the U.S. but the
defendant has been charged as a removable alien; for illegals, a confirmed
alien who is unlawfully present1 in the United States, and has been charged as
a removable alien and the removal proceeds and then are subjected to final
order of removal, meaning that the alien has no lawful status in the United
States and ends with a confirmed status.

Attorney General, Jeff Sessions statement

to the release of this report, U.S. Attorney General, Jeff Sessions delivered
statements concerning the review of immigration policies in
the U.S. and said that when a nation can’t control its own borders, then it
certainly is not a nation at all. Sessions added that since the U.S.’s immigration policies
in the past have failed, for at least 30 years, a turnaround of the immigration crisis
under President Trump’s leadership will prevail with stricter laws and
crackdowns of those who violate U.S. immigration and national
border laws.
