Intelligence (AI) is the science and art of developing machines that simulate
human intelligence. AI’s are frequently used for tasks that would normally
involve human skills, of visual perception, speech-recognition, and decision
making. Being something that does not require a human’s complete operation it
would be something to be feared. But for that sole reason it should not be
hindered in other fields of development.
most people the concept of AI incorporates more than mirroring human intellect;
it also seeks to replicate some of the emotional processes involved in human
thought. It is in this replacement of emotion that may offer the most promising
medical advances for artificial intelligence. That being said AIs may be most
useful is in the nursing home or assisted living environment. For example, AI
can be used for monitoring people, especially those with cognitive impairment,
to provide them with as much independence as possible. For example, a simple
application of AI includes tools that cut off kitchen appliances, irons, and
other features that could be dangerous help facilitate independence, which can
be critical even for people living in assisted living or skilled nursing
environments. More complicated tools using AI monitor the health condition of
seniors, alerting healthcare providers when vital signs indicate a need for
intervention. These uses are well-established ways of using AI in the skilled
nursing or assisted living environment. Another example of AI being
particularly useful is in the medical field, as it has allowed for better
monitoring of patients combined with a better ability to detect abnormalities.
For example, a very technical application of AI is in radiology and imaging,
where computers can be used to scan, eliminating the risk of human error and injury.
AI also helps in the understanding/research of
intelligence. The Human brain develops similar mechanical ability to recognize
things and learn from outside source. The function of AI, as the most common
feature in recent AI researches, is also based on the ability of the AI to
recognize and process information, from the operator or the sensory devices
installed in the system. The common intelligence tests in current
education process usually count the ability of students to perform “memory
ability” (the ability to receive information, memorizing, and recognizing),
and “abstract analytical abilities” (involves analysis, making judgments,
making comparison, and evaluation). Such machine with the sophisticated
characteristics listed above will be directed to think, learn, reason, and use
language just like a human. In the advanced position, the machine should be
able to combine the assortment of capabilities and create initial conception
from its analysis.
Computers often come into several facets to
judge, the ability to solve problems, the ability to learn, the ability
to carry out social tasks, this is all related to similar intelligence that
animals are subjected to study and compare intelligences. Computers, and other
high level machines have exceeded the problem-solving basic. This is the
fundament of every computer created, in which hardware and software come with
special characteristic to finish operation, to calculate, and to process data.
Based on the comparing and achieving methodology, computer can produce answer
to a specific problem in a short time. In modern technology, robot
scientists have enhanced robot’s function not only to accept and execute
commands, but also to develop certain thinking pattern, in which they present
certain situational options and allow the robot to choose the best solution to
solve the problem based on the examination of facts surrounding the problem.
The learning capacity of AI differs from those of humans. AI technology still
cannot escape from the capacity limitation. AI commonly only performs
particular function based on the information it receives. It is designed to
follow certain steps to complete a single task vs humans where we can skip
steps to achieve the desired goal. AI shows humans that it can interact socially,
with another living creature by observing the other’s behavior and imitate it
to be accepted by the opposing partner, example being how a human would wave to
greet one another. Sometimes human adjust to find exact pattern that leads them
to the correct interpretation of the situation/problem. From this observation
and pattern the brain develops a specific response. However, for AIs,
there is also limitation for social interaction. AI develops pattern, such as
how the human brain develops patterns. Inputs can be associated with
stimulation, in which humans can learn from the pattern and give special responds
according to the pattern which is called learning development, for example if a
situation is painful our brain will develop the pattern that if I do this it
will hurt. Human definition of social interaction is quite broad and involves
multiple psychological elements, which is difficult to translate for machines.
The feature above shows that human brain works slight differently from AIs, as AIs
don’t realize but develop analysis on the function of the individual robot in
the system, so it learns function to help, to complete tasks, to organize things.
Those evaluations above however still need to be improved, as there are more to
human thinking capability, which involves creative and practical thinking.
Practical thinking, which also takes bigger part in human life, it deals with
persuasive and communication skills, to enhance the capability shown in
analytical skills. Creative skill is also an important element in human life to
find alternative solution; also prompt action when dealing with unexpected
situation and often comes in unpredictable manner.
